Re:Mediating the Avid Mbox Pro: a FireWire audio interface from 2011 that works again today, on macOS Tahoe.

Avid stopped supporting its driver at macOS Mojave, and Tahoe removed Apple's FireWire stack from the system altogether: the interface went silent. ASFireWire, by Aleksandr Shabelnikov, rebuilds that stack in userspace with DriverKit. Support for the Mbox Pro was added to the project on 30 September 2026, and it brings back all eight channels at once: six line outputs, S/PDIF, both headphone pairs and the four XLR inputs.

And here you can download the manual to install the driver on your computer:
Mbox Pro — Installation guide (PDF, 4 pages)

This is an experimental project, not a supported product. Installing it means building the driver yourself and turning off System Integrity Protection (SIP) on your Mac. The guide walks through what that involves.
